Second Mises Readings “Demise of the Welfare State Model. Diagnosis and Response of the AES”

Reconsidering the conceptual foundations of governance and national economic management in order to overcome years of adherence to interventionism, statism, and the all-encompassing state — along with the discussion and popularization of the ideas of the Austrian School of Economics — is the central theme of the Second Mises Readings.
The II Conference "Mises Reading — 2025” will be devoted to the assessment and analysis of the crisis of the welfare state model, or the State of general interventionism. Diagnosis and Response of the Austrian School of Economics.
Thematic areas of the conference work:
  1. Results of the implementation of the welfare state model in developed countries: theoretical, methodological, and historical aspects.
  2. Economic development in a spiral: IS-LM models or according to the Austrian business cycle theory? Minor, medium, and major depressions are as the “offspring” of Leviathan.
  3. The AES model of entrepreneurial growth vs. the Mazzucato/Rodrick model of the entrepreneurial state. Sources of scientific, technological, and institutional innovativeness.
  4. The world after the collapse of the welfare state. What are the chances of the classical West (capitalism), totalitarianism, and the State of general interventionism?
Information for participants!
Until September 21, 2025, you have to fill out an e-application for participation in the conference and upload your theses for publication in the conference, details in the information sheet below.
For media!
Accreditation for the conference will begin on September 10.

Welfare is determined by the balance of time and resources that, on the one hand, need to be spent on material support for life, and on the other hand, remain with a person for family, recreation, travel, hobbies and self-realization outside of work.
